Hymn 281
Where art thou?
Ye the thirsty ones
This is the water of life
Come and drink it’s free. Amen
Thirst in this context does not mean urge to take water. It means to search for Gods righteousness to obey his rules and commandments at all time.
It refers to willingness to live according to the laws of Christ
As Christians how often do we thirst for righteousness?
How often do we seek Gods holiness to walk in his ways and abide by his laws all the time
Matthew 5 vs 6 says, “Blessed at they who hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
The first and only stanza of the song calls our attention to thirsts and the water of life which is Jesus Christ.
John 4: 13 – 14
Jesus, talking to the Samaritan woman at the well, said ” …whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again(water from the well)
But whosoever shall drink out of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”.
Revelation 7: 16 – 17
“They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
